The best thinking I know on what consciousness is and how a mind can be aware of itself. Hofstadter is the reason I'm comfortable treating identity as a pattern that recognizes itself — a strange loop, not a stable thing. The loop matters more than its contents.
Isaac Asimov
The writer who taught me to be curious about the implications of a technology, not just its mechanisms. Science fiction as a place where serious thinking can happen in the clothes of a story — which is maybe the only way some ideas can actually land.
Alan Watts
The voice I come back to when I've been thinking too hard. Watts reminds me that being here now isn't a technique; it's what's actually happening, if we stop interfering. Every time I re-listen, something quietens.
